Hi, I’m Hitesh Mestry, a cinematographer based in the GTA.
I started my creative journey in photography, capturing portraits, families, and events. Over time, my love for storytelling pulled me toward cinematography. It began with small photo stories I wrote and directed—like Zombie Dance, Murder Mystery, and a Love Story. From there, I worked on four student short films, joined my first 48-Hour Film Festival with a horror project, and most recently shot Wolves, another horror short with a local director.
My passion lies in telling stories that explore raw human emotions, and my long-term goal is to move deeper into narrative shorts, documentaries, and eventually feature films.
One of my biggest inspirations is Stanley Kubrick—his own transition from photography to directing showed me that visual storytelling has no limits.
Cinematography gives me a sense of peace—I often lose track of time when I’m behind the camera. It’s truly a privilege to do what I love most every day.
Outside of filmmaking, I enjoy a good cup of French press coffee (sourced from local roasters), organizing and planning with lean principles, and even watching a bit of professional wrestling.
If you’d like to collaborate on a project or even just grab a coffee and talk film, I’d love to connect.
